About the workshop
This is a CPCAB-endorsed 15-hour workshop that runs over two Saturdays. It aims to introduce students and counsellors to the demands and knowledge needed to work with children and young people. Our workshop familiarises students with the BACP’s competencies for working with Children and Young People. The course asks participants to reflect upon their own experiences and motivations for working in this specialism. We will consider the counsellor’s role and ethical responsibilities when working with this client group. There will be a focus on working within the school setting. Through a range of multisensory activities, participants will have the opportunity to explore some alternatives to talking therapies. Practical strategies and interventions will be shared to create a toolbox for use in sessions with young children and adolescents. Please note that this 2-day CPD does not qualify you as a Children’s Counsellor but does provide an experience as to whether you would like to train and to specialise in this area.
Who is it for?
This CPD training is aimed at Level 4 students and practising counsellors who wish to expand their client base to include this client group.
This training also provides an introduction to those who wish to gain a full qualification in Counselling Children and Young People.

What will I do on this workshop?
It will be a mix of didactic teaching, experiential exercises and group discussions to allow for shared experiences and knowledge in working with this client group.
